The first Orthodox prayer book published in the Philippines
With the blessing of Metropolitan Pavel of Manila and Hanoi, administrator of the Philippine-Vietnamese Diocese of the Patriarchal Exarchate of Southeast Asia, the first prayer book in the Cebuano language has been published.
The collection includes morning and evening prayers, the rule for Holy Communion, prayers for every need, the hours of Holy Pascha.
More than a year of work of the initiative group, the training and missionary center of blj. The matrons of Moscow in Davao, Republic of the Philippines, under the leadership of the Secretary of the Philippine-Vietnamese Diocese, Hieromonk Cornelius (Moleva), as part of the nun Maria (Buniel) and Elijah Ang Aleria, who edited the final text. Dimitry Kahilig, a student of the St. Petersburg Theological Seminary, also took part in the work on the translation. Translation verification was carried out by Filipino diocesan priests.
In recent years, several hundred Filipinos have consciously converted to Orthodoxy, having undergone the appropriate catechesis. And the number of such people continues to grow. It is expected that the prayer book in the Cebuano language for local residents will be in demand.
The Prayer Book was published with the support of the literary fund “Road of Life” and personally by D.A. Mizgulin.
Cebuano is one of the most widely spoken languages in the Philippines, with about 15.8 million speakers.
