Workers of the Department of Charity and Social Service of the Philippine-Vietnamese Diocese continue regular trips with the feeding program to the sparsely populated cities of Luzon Island
“Our nutrition programs are based in the parish of Christ the Savior in the city of Tagaytay. Volunteers and I feed children from very poor families. Some of them do not know how to read and write, and we are working to prepare children who are not attending school for admission,” shared mother Irina Grubbs. “We do our best to meet their nutritional needs, offering a nutritious porridge with the addition of essential vitamins and minerals to support the immune system, growth and brain development. In addition, we give children multivitamins donated by our friends from the USA.
We hope to soon open new and formerly existing children’s health recovery centers in several places that were closed during the pandemic. Similar feeding programs are running simultaneously in different parts of the Philippines, and several new ones will begin in July. Some of these places are located on the island of Luzon: Camarines Sur, Calauag Quezon, Nagkarlan Laguna, Taytay Rizal, Quezon City, Pasay City, Siniloan Laguna, Pakil Laguna and several in the General Santos region of Mindanao.
We also teach children spiritual truths. Natural food is important for physical health, but we shouldn’t forget about spiritual food. You should hear how loudly the children sing “Holy God, Holy Mighty…” and “Our Father”. Please pray for our children and our cause!”
