Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta and clergy of the Exarchate attended reception on occasion of the Day of Russia
On June 15, 2023, at the invitation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Indonesia, L.G. Vorobyeva, and with the blessing of the Patriarchal Exarch of South-East Asia, Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and South-East Asia, the Vicar of the Diocese of Singapore, Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta, together with the clergy of the Exarchate, visited the solemn reception in Jakarta on the occasion of the Day of Russia.
The event was held at the Mulia Hotel. It was attended by representatives of state authorities, socio-political, business, academic, creative, and religious circles of Indonesia, compatriots, journalists as well as representatives of the diplomatic corps.
Welcome speeches were made by: Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Indonesia L.G. Vorobyova; Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to ASEAN, E. T. Zagainov; and Guest of Honour, Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia, Boris Sadikin.
The cultural program of the event included works by the great Russian composers P.I. Tchaikovsky and S.V. Rachmaninoff performed by graduates of Russian universities as well as performances by local dance groups and musicians. A special place in the program of the evening was occupied by the Indonesian song “Washed by the Warm Seas”, which sounded in two languages – Russian and Indonesian.
For the duration of the event, the Embassy also organized an art exhibition with landscapes of Russia, which allowed guests to truly feel the spirit of our Motherland and enjoy picturesque views from various parts of our vast country.
