On Sunday of the Veneration of the Cross, of Great Lent, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, Patriarchal Exarch for Southeast Asia,Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and Southeast Asia, and Archbishop Theofan of Korea celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Seoul
On March 23, 2025, the Sunday of the Veneration of the Cross, of Great Lent, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations; Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and Southeast Asia, Patriarchal Exarch for Southeast Asia; and Archbishop Theofan of Korea celebrated the Divine Liturgy of St. Basil the Great at the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Seoul.
The archpastors were co-served by Hieromonk Pavel (Choi); Priest Nikolai Vasin, secretary of the DECR chairman; Hieromonk Yuvenaly (Marushchak); and Hierodeacon Nektariy (Lim).
The service was performed in Church Slavonic and Korean.
Among those praying in the church was the Ambassador of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Korea, G.V. Zinoviev.
After the dismissal of Liturgy, Archbishop Theofan warmly greeted Metropolitan Anthony and Metropolitan Sergiy and thanked them for the joy of the joint prayer.
In response, the DECR chairman conveyed to the worshippers the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and delivered a sermon.
In prayerful memory of the service, Metropolitan Anthony presented Metropolitan Sergiy and Archbishop Theofan with panagias, and as a gift to the Resurrection Church, he gave them an altar cross.
Then, the bishops communicated with the parishioners over tea.
