On December 25, the 28th Sunday after Pentecost, of the Holy Forefathers and the feast day of St. Spyridon of Trimythous, Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta, vicar of the Diocese of Singapore, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Apostle Thomas in Jakarta.

His Eminence was assisted by Priest Boris Setiavan, rector of the church.

On this day, the parish congratulated on their Nameday: David Hadiningrat, the ktetor of the church of the Apostle Thomas, and the nun Esther (Yermashova), who has the obedience of the choir director at the Archpastor’s Metochion of St. Vladimir’s Church in Bekasi. Bishop Pitirim heartily thanked them for many years of work for the benefit of the Church of Christ. After that, the whole parish sang many years to the Nameday people.

At the end of the service, the clergy and parishioners continued to communicate over a traditional trapeza in the courtyard of the church, where they congratulated Nikita Setiavan, the wife of the rector of the temple, on her birthday.

On the day of the celebration of the Synaxis of the Archangel Michael and the other Bodiless Powers, the patronal feast was prayerfully celebrated in the Church of the Archangel Michael in Kuala Lumpur. The Divine Liturgy was officiated by Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta, Vicar of the Diocese of Singapore. On the eve, the All-Night Vigil was held.

His Eminence was co-served by: Hegumen Pavel (Khokhlov), rector of the Church of the Archangel Michael in Kuala Lumpur and cleric of the church, Priest Seraphim Choy; Priest Evgeny Shmelev, cleric of the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos in Singapore; Priest Evgeny Tsukalo, Rector of the Vietnamese Deanery of the Parishes of the Philippine-Vietnamese Diocese.

On this festive day, the parish also received guests from the neighboring Singapore – parishioners of the Church of the Dormition of the Most Holy Theotokos. The tradition of joint prayer exists between the parishes for a long time, but during the pandemic, such trips became impossible. Therefore, the feast became in many ways special for the believers of the two parishes because it was not possible to gather for the service for about two years. All those present continued friendly communication after the Liturgy at a festive meal.

On November 10, Priest Kirill Siswaja, clergyman of the Singapore Diocese of the Patriarchal Exarchate of South-East Asia, gave a lecture on the Orthodox Faith at the Faculty of Ushuluddin (Islamic Faith) and Philosophy at Sunan Ampel State Islamic University in Surabaya, Indonesia.

The lecture was delivered within the framework of the subject on the history of Christianity in Indonesia, which is taught to students by Dr. Ahmad Siddique.

Father Kirill told the audience the history of the Ancient Church, touched upon the main differences between the teachings of the Eastern Orthodox Church and the Western Church, and other сhristian denominations, as well as key points in the history of the Russian Orthodox Church, including the development of Orthodoxy in Indonesia.

On September 21, on the feast of the Nativity of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary, Patriarchal Exarch of South-East Asia, Metropolitan Sergiy of Singapore and South-East Asia celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Church of the Life-Giving Trinity in Ostankino.

His Eminence was co-served by the clergy of the church.

During the Liturgy, Metropolitan Sergiy ordained Hierodeacon Methodius (Sugiarto), a cleric of the Archpastor Metochion of St. Vladimir’s Church in Bekasi, the Republic of Indonesia, to the priesthood.

At the end of the service, Vladyka congratulated all those present on the feast of the Nativity of the Most Holy Theotokos and addressed the faithful with an archpastoral word.

On August 28, on the feast of the Dormition of Our Most Holy Lady Theotokos and Ever-Virgin Mary, Bishop Pitirim of Jakarta, Vicar of the Diocese of Singapore, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Dormition Parish in Singapore. On the eve of the feast, Bishop Pitirim performed the All-Night Vigil and the rite of the burial of the shroud of the Mother of God.

His Eminence was co-served by the clergy of the church.

The Shroud, decorated with flowers before the rite of Burial, was in the center of the church for prayerful worship of believers. During the reading of the canon, an anointing with oil was performed.

Having congratulated the parishioners on the patronal feast, Vladyka Pitirim addressed the faithful with an archpastoral word. After the Liturgy, the parishioners and guests shared a festive meal, having broken their fast dedicated Dormition.
